Paddlefest - a river party
Photoshop
November 2008

A cover illustration for an entertainment magazine. This was done more in a toon style than a fully rendered painting.
Paddlefest is a sort of a redneck river party... every type of floating craft... innovation gets the awards.
As usual, I use a wacom intuos 3 pen tablet and did this in Photoshop. First doing the drawing using a variable weight brush tip, then doing the color work on overlays to keep the integrity of the ink layer. This is all computer done... no scans. The type was also done in Photoshop with some distortion applied to the "Paddlefest" word. The files are converted to cmyk, some color tweaking done and then exported into an .eps format for the print process.
